We Hereby Declare...And a Love Story

Hello November!

We hope you and your families are all staying well. November is the month for being THANKFUL . We have a Thanksgiving feast followed by Small Business Saturday where we all show the love to small businesses.

This year we want you to know how THANKFUL we are for  your support of our business during these crazy times.

We hereby declare NOVEMBER as GRATITUDE MONTH

We are celebrating Small Business Saturday every Saturday during the month of November with a FREE GIFT WITH PURCHASE!

Let us return the love you have shown us!

Speaking of love....did you ever wonder what inspired us to open Montana Longarm? Read our Love Story below.

I got involved in the quilting community in Helena, MT over 30 years ago and at first it was all machine piecing and hand quilting. I quickly learned that I couldn’t keep up by hand quilting so progressed to quilting on my sewing machine using a walking foot and then moved on to longarm quilting on a rented machine.

In 2010 Glenn and I opened Prickly Pear Quilts downtown Helena on the walking mall. We had a longarm on the lower level on which we used for store samples and rentals. We enjoyed the clientele and the many tourists that came through that location. After a year and a half we decided to go another direction and sold the shop to Connie Roope who has continued to nurture and grow the business to the point where she outgrew the quaint space downtown and moved to the busy intersection of Montana Ave and Cedar St.

In late 2015  I was visiting Olde City Quilts in Burlington, New Jersey, a shop owned by my college roommate Judy Engime and her husband Rob. While there I discovered “Innova” and fell in love with an AutoPilot longarm computerized quilting system. I returned home and completed some remodeling to create a quilting studio where “Buffy, the Quilt Top Slayer” could reside.  Once Buffy moved in I started working on the many UFOs (unfinished objects) I  had stacked up. I was able to improve my skills on Buffy to the point where I felt comfortable launching my home-based  business and I did longarm quilting for many friends.

In early 2018 we decided it was time to open a store focusing exclusively on longarm quilting services.  We opened a longarm training center in Helena featuring Innova longarms and became the Innova dealer for Montana. The initial focus was on sales, training, rentals and professional quilting services along with longarm technique classes and the many supplies needed to support our longarming customers. We recently added the full home line of Brother products which include industrial embroidery machines, scanning/cutting machines and sewing/embroidery machines. This allows us to expand into new and exciting classes and events that we look forward to sharing with you! Please keep us in mind for your sewing, quilting and gifting needs this holiday season and beyond in support of our passion and dream that is Montana Longarm Quilting and Supplies.

With love, Donna & Glenn Bristow
